Favorite Quotes

And March is finally upon us! "Why?" you ask, am I so excited about the beginning of March. Well, let's say I'm a big fan of college basketball, and we'll leave it at that. I'm really wanting to talk about the post today. Words spoken by people to inspire, educate, motivate, and or entertain are powerful examples of the use of words. There are many quotations people use to carry out their everyday lives. I'm curious to see what quotations the readers of this blog use or know of that they feel are inspiring, motivating, and or entertaining. I've got a few I'll share in the comments section. Feel free to comment or share some yourself. Thanks in advance for your post!

P.S. REREAD your post before you publish.

  1. This is a quote about football I found in the book Quotations For Kids by J.A. Senn. Author Jerry Spinellli has one of his characters (Crash) say "Football, see, is a violent and emotional game. The more charged up you are, the better you play." I selected this quote because I'm a huge football fan and also a huge Jerry Spinelli fan. I've used this book for 7 years and just came across this quote. Just shows you how REREADING this isn't such a bad idea!

  2. This next quote was one I found on a bookmark given to me by a student. Edgar Allen Poe is the source of the following words on the one word, dream.

"Those who DREAM by day are cognizant of many things which escape those who dream by night."

You might need to reread the quotation a few times to build a better understanding of what those words might mean to you, or someone else. Think of how others may see those words as well as your own ideas.

  7. I ran across this quote about two weeks ago and had to relocate it. I am sorry for the delay.

"Hatred is never anything but fear-if you feared no one you would hate no one." by Hugh Downs

To me it is rather thought provoking. It is somewhat akin to the idea that we only fear the unknown.

  10. "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?"
